Most Effective Face Masks Recipes For Oily & Acne Prone Skin

Whipping up a facial mask using everyday ingredients from the kitchen is simple and can be done quickly. Using a homemade mask once or twice a week is cost effective and gives the skin a break
from harsh chemicals found in many skin care products, particularly those that target acne. For instance, cucumber juice is a soothing and healing aid to the irritation that acne products can cause.

The best part of using homemade face masks is that they can be used without any fear of side effects. A few recipes of easy homemade face masks for oily skin are given below:

Asprin and Lemon Juice Mask
Asprin is no beauty secret with the wonders it can do for your skin. You will have heard of a trick involving it before! It has salycylic acid in it which is its active ingredient in repairing skin. The citric acid in the lemons has antibacterial properties which are great for disinfecting your skin and evening out your skin tone. Honey is soothing on the skin and baking soda acts as an exfoliator but also has great natural properties for the skin too.

What you will need:
3-5 asprins
1 lemon
baking soda
runny honey

1. Crush asprin
2. Squeeze in lemon juice (1 tbs per 3 asprins), asprin will dissolve into paste.
3. Optional step if you have dry skin, add in the warm honey. You may skip this step if your skin is extremely oily.
4. Apply mask.
5. Remove mask with a wet washcloth dipped in baking soda.

Strawberry, Honey and Lemon mask
Just like the asprin, strawberries contain salycylic acid which does acne prone skin a world of good. Brown sugar is a natural and easy exfoliant which isn’t too harsh as it it not as rough as white sugar.

What you will need:
6 fresh strawberries
1 tbs honey
1 tbs brown sugar
1 tbs fresh lemon juice

1. De-stem strawberries.
2. Use a food processor until a paste is made out of all the components.
3. Apply to face for 10 minutes OR keep in fridge and apply when cooled.

Brightening Tumeric Mask
Tumeric is a great ingredient for brightening your complexion. Use it with her tinted moisturiser for a natural glow!

What you will need:
¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
2 tbs flour
¼ cup plain yogurt (can be replaced with olive oil, almond oil or coconut oil if you have dry skin)

1. Smoothly mix all the ingredients together.
2. Leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes.
3. Be sure to wash off with a towel you don’t mind getting spoiled as tumeric stains.
